Above Love Itself

As a child, I tended to imagine love and romance as unobtainable, unfathomable things. That romance was something that some god above magically bestowed upon you, and you could show it off like a medal. I now know that this is anything but the truth. My partner has shown me how much work truly goes into a relationship, such as cooperation, compromise, and acceptance.

In my series Above Love Itself, I use the medium of digital collage to cut figures and forms from screenshots and carefully arrange each element. I use layering of elements to create scenes that translate my love for my partner. With this process, I aim to convey the intricacies, delicacy, and devotion I feel about my relationship and translate the intangible, overflowing love I feel for my partner into tangible visualizations of my passion.
